Johnny Craig
Remember all the Congressional hearing "Seduction of the Innocent" hoopla in the early 1950s, and the prosecution's chief exhibit, the severed head and axe cover to Crime SuspenStories #22? Well, Johnny Craig drew that cover. Craig was the senior member of the EC's staff and foremost cover artist. He joined the publisher after serving as Combat Communications Specialist in WWII, earning a purple heart in battle with Nazi Germany. After exiting EC, Craig opted for advertising work, however, he did return to comics to grace the pages of a few rare Marvel Comics titles later in his career.Source: Comics Between The Panels
