Gil Kane
The masterful artistry of Gil Kane is associated by many as THE definitive look of Marvel covers in the late Silver Age and early Bronze. A Gil Kane cover packed a wallop, and the credit of some 900 Marvel covers belongs to him. As such, it's no wonder Gil Kane's Marvel work is so prized and sought after among collectors. But covers are not solely Kane's claim to fame. Having started as Jack Kirby's assistant at the age of 16, Kane's career spanned nearly every publisher... he even worked on the Golden Age Captain America at Timely! During the 1950s, before Marvel, but after the near collapse of the industry, Kane was one of the few working comic artists - churning out pages for DC while other out-of-work greats toiled to make ends meet in the advertising industry. As an artist whose work ethic rivaled that of his mentor, Jack Kirby, Gil Kane made his mark on comics with the creation of countless stories loved and cherished by generations of fans.Source: The Unofficial Handbook of Marvel Creators
